The Bragg Hill Family Life Center hosted their third annual Lights On Afterschool celebration. They were one of more than 7,500 sites across the nation sending the message that afterschool is key to children’s success, and that we must keep the lights on and doors open after school.
Thank you for including Walker-Grant Middle School in this fabulous event of music, food delighted, crafts and fellowship.
Yesterday an eighth grade student asked me “How could she be more successful?”. And I shared this quote with her …..
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”
Former Secretary of State, Colin Powell
If you have a quote that you would like to share, please post it here so that I may share with many more students.
If you have seen the advertisements or show for the Broadway musical WICKED, we can make a connection to education. Wicked, the untold story of the Witches of OZ. My point of reference with the musical is not one of witchcraft or trickery, but just to demonstrate that we may think we know the desired ending; but it’s not always as it appears. As educators we see the value of creating relationships to make life long impressions. If you have not seen the production, I don’t want to give the story line away. The relationship and dialogue with Elphaba and the Professor Dillamond is key to understanding the importance of knowing your students. If you have seen the play the connection is clear.
As educators we must continue to make connections, foster relationships and build lives.
We love what we do!
