Postponed bill on School Discipline

School administrators should be alarmed as we monitor a House bill that was postponed today. The bill would have required that parents be brought into the school disciplinary process early in the investigative stages. A must read for all school administrators. I can only imagine the impact on school climate and safety.

What do you see as the potential impact on schools if this were to move forwared???
Personally, I agree parents need to be “in the loop.” I just am not sure that involving them as early in the process as is being proposed is reasonable or feasible. It would certainly complicate due process!

I would agree that involving them to early in the process could greatly hinder findings and/or prolong and complicate the matter interfering with more loss of instruction time for all parties involved. This is a bill to watch. Due Process would be questioned.
