Dear Walker-Grant Middle School Community, The first part of the 2016-2017 year has gone by quickly, and it has been exciting. Parents have met with their children’s teachers during parent conferences and we have completed our first quarter and are well into our second. As I take a moment to reflect on the many things for which I am thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share them with you: I am thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn and be open to new opportunities. Our students remind us of what is important and why we are here. I am thankful for the support of the parents and community in creating outstanding partnerships for our students. I am thankful for the teachers, paraprofessionals, cafeteria staff, custodians, bus drivers, secretaries, nurses, lunchroom aides, support staff, therapists and administrators who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. I am also thankful for our volunteers who contribute so much to our school and community. Most importantly, we are thankful for the parents that believe in us. I would like to wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy and relaxing Fall Break! Sincerely, Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt
A few middle school reminders: *****Student let’s get organized 1. Use your school agenda to record homework and due dates 2. Use folder/notebooks for each class as assigned 3. Keep your locker and book bag/back pack cleaned out daily. *****Do your homework : Schedule your time wisely. Allot a set amount of time each day for homework and time to study. Please don’t wait until an assignment is due, start early and work in small chunks. *****Talk to your teachers and administrators: Ask questions. Our teachers are here to help you. If you do not understand something, ask them! We want you to succeed.
Please be reminded that Tuesday, November 8, is a Teacher Workday. This is great day to do a family reading time.FCPS/WGMS
